More tourist stuff. Walking to the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia
and then to the Railway Museum got me out of the main tourist area.
In the afternoon, I took a bus to BTC City. It surprised me; it
is a huge shopping area. I could not get a picture to show you the
extent. It has multiple enclosed malls, big box stores, and more, with over 500
shops. Why? It seems disproportionate to Ljubljana’s size, so it must attract
people from some distance.
After dinner, I visited the Slovenian Banking Museum and the art gallery in Muza. Somebody personally interested put
work into the museum; it is pretty good. There is a simple cohesive history of money, with information like:
- The use of “cheque” or “check” for bank checks comes from checking authenticity features in them.
- People used to keep their savings at temples, and that is why a temple image (building with columns) is associated with banks today.
The art gallery was good too, with good descriptions of the artworks.
Later I had some ice cream. It was okay, but Luculus in Bratislava was better.

Triple Bridge. According to the city tour, the architect hired to expand the bridge recommended building two new ones instead, preserving the original. I went out early to get a photograph along all three bridges without too many people in the way. |

Aroma Restaurant’s Scrocchiarella Margerita. Tomatoes Emilia Romagna, mozzarella di Buffala, Burrata, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, cherry tomatoes. The light crunchy dough was fine, but the toppings were so-so. |

Čokoladnica Ljubljana. More from this store, but the good stuff was in my first purchase. |
