Today I went to Bratislava, short bus ride from Wien. First, I looked for breakfast in the Wien Hauptbahnhof, and I found Punschkrapfen, which is dessert.

When I got to Bratislava, my hotel reception was closed for lunch, so I went to the neighboring square and had lunch myself. After checking in and getting settled, I was just in time for the tourist office’s town tour. It was fairly short, so I still had time to get out of the old town to visit a chocolatier, Shockbons. That was not an easy trip; Apple Maps had me take the tram to a stop that should have been an easy walk from the store, but there was construction, and the alternative path I took went several blocks out of the way, in the heat. (It turned out detouring south instead of north would have been shorter.)

Slovak national dish, hryndzové halušky: potato dumplings topped with bryndza, a type of sheep’s milk cheese, served with crispy bacon. Yum.
